OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
ACCEPTING AND APPROVING THE DOWNTOWN STRATEGIC PLAN
WHEREAS, in a collaborative effort spanning over 20 months, the City, the Downtown
Development Authority("DDA") and the Downtown Business Association ("DBA") sponsored an
open public process for the purpose of establishing the 'Downtown Strategic Plan"; and
WHEREAS,the City, the DDA,and the DBA commissioned a consulting team to help lead
the process and provide objective expertise and perspective in key disciplines for the development
of the Downtown Strategic Plan; and
WHEREAS,the impetus behind the Downtown Strategic Plan project was a growing concern
about the strength of the downtown retail market, and the related implications for parking,
transportation, management, maintenance, new development and infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Board, the DBA, the Transportation Board and the
DDA have all provided input to the City Council regarding the Downtown Strategic Plan and have
recommended its approval; and
WHEREAS, the Council has determined that the Downtown Strategic Plan, though not
proposed to become an element of the City's Comprehensive Plan,is meant to be used as the primary
basis for an update of the 1999 Downtown Plan, which is an adopted element of the City's
Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Council has determined that it is in the best interest of the City that the
Downtown Strategic Plan be accepted and approved for the purpose stated above.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the Downtown Strategic Plan is hereby accepted and approved.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this 17th day of February,
