HomeMy WebLinkAbout1986-137-08/19/1986-RESEARCH NEGOTIATE CONTRACT VISITOR AND CONVENTION BUREAU RESOLUTION 86-137 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO RESEARCH AND NEGOTIATE A CONTRACT FOR VISITOR AND CONVENTION BUREAU SERVICES WHEREAS, Convention and tourist activities are a clean base industry, generating new income to the local economy; and WHEREAS, an effective Convention and Visitor's Bureau can offer valuable professional promotion and coordinated marketing efforts; and WHEREAS, Bureau activities can attract new conventions and extend the visits of tourists and visitors to Fort Collins resulting in increased tax revenues; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins has, pursuant to Ordinance No. 20, 1984, imposed a Lodging Tax the revenues from which have been authorized to be used in ways to enhance and promote the convention and tourist industry; and WHEREAS, the Council hereby determines that it is in the public interest to investigate and research the opportunities to promote convention and tourist activities and correspondingly increase tax revenues to the City generated by the successful activities of a Visitor and Convention Bureau. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to research and negotiate a contract for Visitor and Convention Bureau services. Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort Collins held this 19th day of August, A.D. 1986. Mayor ATTEST: City Clerk
