HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-110-08/05/1997-AMENDING RESOLUTION 97-67 CITIZEN PARTICIPATION CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS RESOLUTION 97-110 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AMENDING RESOLUTION 97-67 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS ADOPTING CERTAIN RULES OF PROCEDURE GOVERNING THE CONDUCT OF CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS WHEREAS, on May 6, 1997,the City Council adopted Resolution 97-67 which established certain rules of procedure governing the conduct of City Council meetings; and WHEREAS, one of the rules of procedure adopted by the Council limits individual citizen input during the citizen participation segment of each Council meeting to a maximum of three (3) minutes per person; and WHEREAS,the Council believes that such limitation should be expanded to a maximum of five (5) minutes per person, subject to modification by the Mayor under certain circumstances, so as to better afford citizens an opportunity to address items of interest not scheduled for Council's consideration on the agenda of that particular meeting. NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS, as follows: Section 1. That Section La. of Resolution 97-67 is hereby amended so as to read in its entirety as follows: a. Citizen comment, both during the "citizen participation" segment of each meeting and with regard to agenda items, will be limited to a maximum of five(5)minutes per person. If, in the discretion of the Mayor,the number of persons wishing to speak during citizen participation would unduly prolong that portion of the meeting, the Mayor may reduce the time allowed for individual citizen input. Section 2. That,except as hereinabove amended,the provisions of Resolution 97-67 shall remain in full force and effect. Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this 5th day of August,A.D. 1997. Mayor Pro Tem ATTEST: City Clerk
