OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE
POSTHUMOUSLY TO LEWIS D. MARTINEZ
FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE COMMUNITY AS
A LONG-TIME RESIDENT OF FORT COLLINS
WHEREAS, Lewis D. Martinez was a long-time, active resident of Fort Collins until his
death on June 19, 2000; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Martinez was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Martinez participated in community programs such as the Fort Collins
Legionnaires baseball team; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Martinez was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and
the American Legion; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Martinez, with his foregoing life achievements, added to the richness
and cultural life of his country and the Fort Collins community; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins, on behalf of the staff of the City and
the community wishes to formally express its appreciation and gratitude to Lewis D. Martinez
posthumously for his contributions to his country and the Fort Collins community, and to
express its profound and sincere sympathy to Mayor Martinez and to his entire family.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT COLLINS that the City Council adopt this Resolution to provide an enduring record of
the contributions of Lewis D. Martinez to his country and the Fort Collins community.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort Collins held
this 20th day of June, A.D. 2000.
