OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
RECOGNIZING THE NEED TO SUPPORT THE YOUTH OF FORT COLLINS
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins recognizes the need to support the youth of our
community and is committed to help provide this support; and
WHEREAS, the City provides a wide variety of facilities and services for young people,
including the Youth Activity Center,the Youth/Teen Center at Northside Aztlan Community Center,
the Farm at Lee Martinez Park,EPIC,Mulberry Pool,the pool at City Park, the RAD Van and BOB
the Bus Programs, and the Youth Employment Program; and
WHEREAS,the City also supports youth by working with other agencies including Poudre
School District,Larimer County,the Boys and Girls Club,and numerous youth sports programs;and
WHEREAS, the City supports the efforts of America's Promise to strengthen the character
and competence of youth through the provision of the five promises of America's Promise: caring
adults; safe places; healthy start; marketable skills and opportunities to serve; and
WHEREAS, at the instigation of the City Council an enhanced partnership has been formed
with Poudre School District and the Larimer County Commissioners to develop a multi faceted
approach to supporting the youth of our community; and
WHEREAS,the City Council recognizes the importance of making an ongoing commitment
to the youth of Fort Collins.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the City of Fort Collins hereby expresses its ongoing commitment to provide the
youth of our community with positive life experiences,safe places to learn and grow, caring adults,
creative and fun activities and marketable skills so they can grow to be healthy, caring and
responsible adults.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this 2 t day of November,
A.D. 2000.
