HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-138-11/06/2001-ESTABLISHING A TWO-PERSON TRANSPORTATION FUNDING COMMITTEE TO FORMULATE RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING TH RESOLUTION 2001-138 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS ESTABLISHING A TWO-PERSON TRANSPORTATION FUNDING COMMITTEE TO FORMULATE RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING THE FUNDING OF THE CITY'S LONG-TERM TRANSPORTATION NEEDS WHEREAS,on August 28,2001,the Council considered two resolutions,which,if approved by the City Council,would have presented to the voters of the City a proposed tax increase to fund certain transportation capital projects, together with two other capital projects not related to transportation; and WHEREAS, the City Council chose not to act upon said resolutions and to instead direct City staff to develop recommendations for a more comprehensive funding proposal that would address the long-term capital transportation needs of the City, as well as other capital needs of the City, and to formulate recommendations as to which, if any, such capital projects should be placed on the November 2002, ballot; and WHEREAS, City Council believes it to be in the best interest of the City to appoint a two- member Council committee to consult with the City Manager with regard to the formulation of such recommendations. NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS as follows: Section 1. That there is hereby established a Transportation Funding Committee consisting of two councilmembers. Section 2. That Mayor Pro Tern Bill Bertschy and Councilmember Kurt Kastein are hereby appointed by the City Council to serve on the Transportation Funding Committee. Section 3. That the functions of the Transportation Funding Committee shall be to: • Conduct a general review,for background and context purposes,of all of the long-term transportation needs of the City and the most appropriate mechanisms for funding those needs; • Within that context, develop recommendations to the City Council as to which, if any, transportation capital projects should be placed on the ballot for consideration by City voters; and • Coordinate with City staff to ensure that the Committee's recommendations take into consideration any funding needs of the City that may warrant additional tax measures on the ballot. Section 4. That upon the submission of such recommendations to the City Council, the Transportation Funding Committee shall be dissolved, absent further action of the Council.
