OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
MAKING AN APPOINTMENT TO FILL A
VACANCY FOR COUNCILMEMBER FOR DISTRICT 1
ON THE FORT COLLINS COUNCIL
WHEREAS, a vacancy for Council District 1 was created by the resignation of
Cou.n lmember Bob Overbeck effective January 1, 2019; and
WHEREAS,the Charter of the City of Fort Collins provides that the City Council.shall fill
such vacancy by appointment within forty-five days, and that the appointed Councilmember shall
serve until the next regular election, when District I voters will elect a Council representative for
a four-year term;and
WHEREAS, the Council has carefully considered a number of applications received from
qualified District 1 residents to fill such vacancy and has interviewed such applicants; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to appoint Susan Gutowsky to fill said vacancy on
the Fort Collins City Council to serve until the District I voters elect a representative at the April
2, 2019, regular municipal election, and the elected individual has taken office.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that,Susan Gutowsky is hereby appointed to fill the vacancy created by the resignation
of Councilmember Bob Overbeck and to serve as District 1 Councilmember on the Fort Collins
City Council until an elected representative for District 1 has taken office following the April 2,
2019, regular municipal election.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort Collins this 15th
day of January A.D. 2019.
