ESTABLISHING A DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN FOR THE CITY ?MANAGER
WHEREAS, the City has in its employ, ROBERT L. BRUNTON, in the position
of City Manager; and
WHEREAS, the said Robert L. Brunton is and will be rendering valuable
services to the City; and
WHEREAS, the City has considered the establishment of a deferred compen-
sation plan for the City Manager, Robert L. Brunton, made available to the City
and to the City Manager by the International City Management Association Retirement
Corporation; and
WHEREAS, certain income tax benefits accrue to the City Manager through
participation in said plan; and
WHEREAS, the City recognizes that the tax advantages of said plan to the
City Manager constitute a benefit to the City by allowing the City to offer an
additional "fringe benefit" in recruiting and retaining qualified personnel in its
employment at no charge or cost to the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the City of Fort Collins establish the said Deferred Compensation Plan
for the City Manager, Robert L. Brunton, and for this purpose, agree to the following:
A. The Trust Agreement with the International City Management Association
Retirement Corporation, attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; and
B. The Deferred Compensation Employment Agreement attached hereto as
Exhibit "B".
both of which are approved and adopted; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk be, and they hereby
are, authorized and directed to execute such agreements for and on behalf of the
City of Fort Collins.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this
1st day of March A.D. 1973.
