OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AMENDMENT
AGREEMENT WITH THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
TO ADD FUNDING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE
HARMONY ROAD/COLLEGE AVENUE INTERSECTION PROJECT
WHEREAS, in February 2008, the City Council approved the appropriation of state and
federal funds for the Harmony Road and College Avenue Intersection Project (the "Project") and
entered into a contract with the Colorado Department of Transportation("CDOT")regarding funding
and construction of the Project; and
WHEREAS, City Council has heretofore determined that the Project is necessary and in the
best interests of the City because the intersection of Harmony Road and College Avenue is one of
the highest volume intersections in the City and is presently operating at a Level of Service D and
is anticipated to operate in the future at a Level of Service F and, accordingly, is in need of the
improvements proposed in the Project; and
WHEREAS, additional state and federal funds earmarked as(1) Congestion Relief Federal
Funds in the amount of$627,000, and(2)Hazard Elimination&Safety Funds, Kensington Median
in the amount of$120,000 (for a total of$747,000) have been made available to the City; and
WHEREAS, the addition of these funding sources requires an amendment to the City's
contract with CDOT for the Project; and
WHEREAS, City Council has determined that the amendment is in the best interests of the
City and that the Mayor should be authorized to execute the proposed amendment agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute an amendment agreement to the contract
with the Colorado Department of Transportation for the purpose of adding funding in the amount
of SEVEN HUNDRED FORTY SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($747,000)of state and federal
funds to be used for the construction of the Harmony Road and College Avenue Intersection Project.
