HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-174-10/04/1983-ADOPTING A 1984-1985 TAX REFORM PROGRAM RESOLUTION 83- 174 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS ADOPTING A 1984-1985 TAX REFORM PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City Council identified a need to reform certain aspects of the City' s revenue generating mechanisms, noting that the present structure provides inadequate funds for the City' s expanding capital and operating needs, and WHEREAS, the present taxing structure was also perceived to contain certain elements of inequity in terms of the relative tax burden borne by taxpayers NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS Section 1 That the Council declares its support of the need to reform the City' s existing revenue generating mechanisms Section 2 That the Council adopts a 1984-1985 Tax Reform Program, beginning with modifications built into the 1984 Budget During the year of 1984, staff is directed to research the possibilities of implementing new, and/or modifying existing, taxing mechanisms The purpose of this research is to provide adequate funds for the City' s expanding capital and operating needs, as well as to eliminate elements of inequity in the existing taxing mechanisms Such mechanisms would be implemented, after public input and by Council action, during 1984 or recommended for inclu- sion in the 1985 Budget Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this 4th day of October, A D 1983 M yo ATTEST l city 7JW+wlld r cl
