HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-176-10/04/1983-DIRECTING STAFF TO RESEARCH AND DEVELOP AN ENTERTAINMENT TAX RESOLUTION 83-176 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS DIRECTING STAFF TO RESEARCH AND DEVELOP AN ENTERTAINMENT TAX WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that the General Fund has in- creasing needs for revenue, and WHEREAS, the City Council notes that the General Fund subsidy to the Lincoln Center is increasing yearly, and WHEREAS, an Entertainment Tax could reduce the impact of the General Fund subsidy to the Lincoln Center by increasing revenue in the General Fund NOW, THEREFORE, BE Ii RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS, COLORADO Section 1 That the Council declares its support for the concept of an Entertainment Tax, to be levied against the consumers of all forms of entertainment offered within the City of Fort Collins for profit Section 2 That the Entertainment Tax would not be levied on acti- vities sponsored by Poudre R-1 School District and Colorado State Univer- s l ty Section 3 That the Entertainment Tax would be levied at the rate of 5 75% on the price paid by the consumers to the vendor of the entertainment service The revenue generated by an Entertainment Tax would be dedicated to helping reduce the General Fund subsidy to the Lincoln Center Section 4 That the Council directs the City staff to research and develop an Entertainment Tax, and, if deemed feasible, to recommend such a tax to Council for adoption and implementation effective April 1, 1984 Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this 4th day of October, A D 1983 ID vATTEST 14aaL �k CityCe c
