OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
APPROVING THE CREATION OF A SOLAR SERVICES AGENCY
WITHIN THE FORT COLLINS LIGHT AND POWER UTILITY
WHEREAS, the Fort Collins City Council considers solar energy as a
preferred fuel source to meet the future energy needs of the City of Fort
Collins, and
WHEREAS, the City Council considers the use of solar energy systems
for heating and cooling buildings, for providing hot water for use in
buildings and swimming pools, and for generating electricity as significant
contributions to the public health, safety and welfare of the citizens of
Fort Collins, and
WHEREAS, the CHOICE process planning strategy employed by the Fort
Collins Light and Power Utility emphasizes the need for increased use of
renewable energy resources in residential areas, and
WHEREAS, the Utility' s Municipal Solar Utility (MSU) Study was con-
ducted to determine the applicability of an MSU to Fort Collins and it was
determined an information model MSU was needed
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that an informational model Municipal Solar Utility to be known as
the "Solar Services Agency", be created within and be maintained by the
Fort Collins Light and Power Utility
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this
6th day of December, A D 1983
