OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
TAKING MEASURES TO INSURE SOUND FINANCING
IN THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS FOR 1983
WHEREAS, on October 19, 1982, the Council of the City of Fort Collins
adopted Ordinance No 113, 1982, imposing an additional 75 hundredths
percent Sales and Use Tax in the City of Fort Collins to be effective
December 1, 1982, and
WHEREAS, subsequent to the adoption of the aforementioned ordinance,
qualified electors of the City of Fort Collins submitted petitions to the
City Clerk calling for a referendum on the 75 hundredths percent Sales and
Use Tax issue, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article XVII, Section 3, of the Charter of the
City of Fort Collins, the Council adopted Ordinance No 152, 1982, said
ordinance referring the 75 hundredths percent Sales and Use Tax issue to a
vote of the people at the general City election to be held March 8, 1983,
and
WHEREAS, the amount of estimated revenue to be received from sales and
use tax collections in 1983 will be insufficient for the annual appropri-
ations ordinance adopted October 5, 1982 as a result of said referendum,
and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins wishes to maintain the sound fi-
nancing of City government
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS as follows
Section 1 That appropriations totaling THREE MILLION SEVEN HUNDRED
FIFTY THREE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED NINETY-ONE DOLLARS ($3,753,191) be frozen
pending the results of the March 8 election as follows
Old City Hall Renovation $ 403,939
Street Rehabilitation 400,000
Timberline & Prospect Intersection 1,574,000
Timberline-Prospect to Summitview 392,000
South Lemay-Horsetooth to Harmony 554,000
Street Oversizing 200,000
Contribution to Social Service
Agencies 10,932
Park Maintenance for new Cormunity
Parks 186,124
Capital Reserves 32,196
TOTAL $3,753,191

Section 2 That the 1983 General City Capital Improvement Program
include only the following projects pending the results of the sales tax
issue

Section 3 That the Sales Tax Rebate Program for qualified residents
is hereby deferred pending the results of the sales tax issue
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of City Council held this
4th day of January, A D 1983
