RESOLUTION 83-27
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
MAKING A FINDING THAT THE CITIZEN INITIATED MEASURE
RELATIVE TO AN AMENDMENT OF ARTICLE XVII ,
SECTIONS 1 , 2, 6 AND 8 OF THE CITY CHARTER IS A MATTER
OF OFFICIAL CONCERN, AND AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE
OF CERTAIN FUNDS AND/OR THE USE OF CITY STAFF
AND SUPPLIES FOR THE DISSEMINATION OF
INFORMATION REGARDING SAID AMENDMENT
WHEREAS, on January 7, 1983, the Clerk of the City of Fort Collins
received petitions calling for placement on the March 8, 1983 ballot of a
proposed Charter amendment to Sections 1 , 2, 6 and 8 of Article XVII of the
Charter of the City of Fort Collins, and
WHEREAS, on January 18, 1983, the Clerk of the City of Fort Collins
verified that said petitions contained the requisite number of signatures
to require that said proposed amendment be submitted to the qualified
electors at said election, and
WHEREAS, it is the considered opinion of the City Council that City
saff should make available to the City at large, information of a general
nature relative to said proposed amendment, and
WHEREAS, §1-45-116, C R S 1973 (Campaign Reform Act) , allows the
governing body of a political subdivision to make contributions and/or
contributions-in-kind in campaigns involving issues of official concern,
provided that specific approval of such contributions and/or contributions-
in-kind first be given by the political subdivision
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS as follows
Section 1 That the Council hereby finds and determines that the
proposed citizen initiated Charter amendment relative to Sections 1 , 2, 6
and 8 of Article XVII of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins is an
issue of official concern to the Council
Section 2 That the City Council hereby approves the use and expen-
diture of such funds as are reasonable and prudent, but not to exceed ONE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000) , and/or the use of staff and appropriate supplies
as necessary for the purpose of disseminating general information to the
public at large relative to the proposed citizen initiated Charter amend-
ment
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this
1st day of February, A D 1983
