OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AMENDING THE RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE
OPERATION OF MUNICIPAL CEMETERIES
WHEREAS, the City presently operates the Grandview and Roselawn
Cemeteries, and
WHEREAS, by Resolution No 78-97, the Council of the City of Fort
Collins adopted rules and regulations for the operation of municipal
cemeteries, and
WHEREAS, since the adoption of said rules and regulations, the City
staff has conferred with funeral directors througnout the City regarding
the use of double burial spaces
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS
Section 1 That Section 4 (Q) ( Interment of More Than One Body) be,
and it hereby is, amended to read as follows
Section 4 (Q) Interment of More than One Body
Not more than one body or the remains of one body may
be interred in a single burial space except by written
consent of the Cemetery Superintendent, or in the case
of members of the same family who will be interred in
the same casket The foregoing shall not apply
in the case of cremains or double burial spaces
Section 2 That Section 4 (Interments and Disinterments Generally) of
the Cemetery Rules and Regulations be, and the same hereby is, amended by
the addition of a new subsection 4 (R) (Double Burials) with the remaining
subsections relettered accordingly Said new subsection shall read as
follows
Section 4 (R) Double Burials
1 Double burials shall only be permitted in areas
designated by the City
2 Double burials will only be permitted after
receipt of a written request from the family of
the deceased , subject to the approval of the
Cemetery Superintendent
The Cemetery Superintendent shall provide a

written response indicating approval or disapprov-
al of the request and, if disapproval , the reason
shall be stated
3 The first deceased must go in the bottom in all
cases
4 Only steel , concrete or doublewalled fiberglass
vaults may be used
5 The requesting party shall waive any right of
disinterment
6 The agreement for the purchase of double burial
space shall state that if the space is not
used after a specified period, the ownership
of said space will revert to the City
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 17th day of March tI 1981
