RESOLUTION 97-23
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL
AGREEMENT WITH THE COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT
OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH TO CONTINUE THE FISH AND BENTHIC
BIOSURVEYS IN 1997
WHEREAS, since 1981, the City has conducted a fish and benthic biosurvey program to
monitor any impact that wastewater discharges may have on the waters of the Cache La Poudre
River and such surveys have been conducted by Colorado State University("CSU")under contract
with the City; and
WHEREAS, such information regarding water quality is essential to the City's water
resources planning and management activities; and
WHEREAS,for the aforesaid reasons,the Council of the City of Fort Collins has determined
that it is in the best interest of the citizens of the City that said program be continued for the calendar
year 1997; and
WHEREAS,Article II, Section 16 of the City Charter provides that the Council may enter
into agreements with other governmental bodies for the performance of cooperative or joint
activities.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS as follows:
Section 1. That the Mayor be, and hereby is, authorized to enter into an agreement with
CSU for the continuation of the City's fish and benthic biosurvey program for the 1997 calendar
year, at a cost to the City not to exceed Fifteen Thousand One Hundred and Twenty Dollars
($15,120).
Section 2. That the Mayor may, if it is deemed to be in the best interest of the City and
if the City Manager and City Attorney recommend it, extend the Agreement one (1) additional year
and make such modifications to the Agreement as are necessary to protect the City's interests.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council o City of Fo ns held this
18th day of February, A.D. 1997.
