RESOLUTION 2008-093
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION WHEREBY THE CITY WILL RECEIVE A "CMAQ" GRANT AND
AN ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM GRANT FOR THE NORTH COLLEGE
AVENUE/US287 IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Colorado Department of Transportation ("CDOT") and the North Front
Range Metropolitan Planning Organization have awarded the City a Congestion Mitigation and Air
Quality ("CMAQ") grant and an Enhancement Program grant in order to provide improvements
along North College Avenue from the Poudre River to the Conifer/Hickory Street intersection,with
each grant being in the sum of$250,000; and
WHEREAS, additional funds in the amount of$417,000 are available from the "Building
on Basics" funds for the fiscal period 2008-09, and additional "Building on Basics" funds are
available in the amount of$83,000 as a part of the 2010-11 fiscal period; and
WHEREAS, these grants, in the aggregate sum of$500,000, will help fund the planning,
design, engineering, right-of-way acquisition and construction costs for the North College Avenue
improvements,targeting bicycle and pedestrian improvements and streetscape improvements along
the corridor; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interests of the City that
the Mayor be authorized to execute an intergovernmental agreement with CDOT in order for the City
to receive such grants.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute an intergovernmental agreement with the
Colorado Department of Transportation in order to enable the City to receive a CMAQ grant in the
amount of$250,000, and an Enhancement Program grant in the amount of$250,000, which funds
will be used to provide improvements along North College Avenue from the Poudre River to the
Conifer/Hickory intersection.
