HomeMy WebLinkAbout1984-133-09/04/1984-CREATING A CABLE ADVISORY BOARD AND A PUBLIC ACCESS ADVISORY BOARD RESOLUTION 84- 133 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS CREATING A CABLE ADVISORY BOARD AND A PUBLIC ACCESS ADVISORY BOARD WHEREAS, the City Council desires increased citizen input in dealing with issues related to cable television in the City of Fort Collins ; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to create a Cable Advisory Board and a Public Access Advisory Board and set forth the composition and responsi- bilities of such boards. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that: Section 1. An advisory board designated as the Cable Advisory Board is hereby created for the purpose of providing informal citizen input to Columbine CableVision on an ongoing basis and to deal with internal uses for the City of Fort Collins' own cable television system. Section 2. An advisory board designated as the Public Access Advisory Board is hereby created for the purpose of promoting public access pro- gramming in Fort Collins. Section 3. Each board shall be composed of seven (7) members ap- pointed by the City Council to serve without monetary compensation . Members of the boards shall serve for four (4) years or until their suc- cessors are appointed and the initial appointments to such boards shall specify the term of office of each individual in order to achieve over- lapping tenure. All members shall be subject to removal by the Council . In the event that a vacancy occurs on a board, the same shall be filled by the City Council for the remaining unexpired portion of the term. A representative of Columbine CableVision chosen by Columbine Cable- Vision shall serve as an ex officio member of each board. Section 4. The boards shall elect annually from the membership a chairperson and such other officers as may be required, whose duties shall be such as may be prescribed by the by-laws to be adopted by the boards, which by-laws shall not be inconsistent with the Charter and Ordinances of the City of Fort Collins. A copy of the by-laws shall be filed with the City Clerk for the use of the City Council immediately after adoption by each board, and the same shall be subject to the approval of the City Council .
