OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
APPROVING THE 2006 FORT COLLINS-LOVELAND MUNICIPAL
AIRPORT MASTER PLAN
WHEREAS, the Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport is a general aviation and
commercial service airport serving northern Colorado since 1964 that is jointly owned and operated
by the cities of Fort Collins and Loveland ("the Airport"); and
WHEREAS, in 1993, the cities of Fort Collins and Loveland (jointly "the Cities") adopted
an Airport Master Plan Update for the Airport related to its future operations and facilities ("1993
Airport Master Plan"); and
WHEREAS, starting in the summer of 2004, the Cities began a process to update the 1993
Airport Master Plan in order to evaluate the existing and future aviation needs of the Airport as well
as to analyze the Airport's future facility and operational needs; and
WHEREAS, in order to accomplish this, the Cities established a project advisory study
committee which conducted periodic meetings along with four public information meetings in
developing a draft final report on file with the City Clerk titled "Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal
Airport Master Plan Update" and dated April 2006 ("the 2006 Airport Master Plan"); and
WHEREAS, the 2006 Airport Master Plan makes numerous recommendations concerning
future Airport operations and facilities; and
WHEREAS, on May 17, 2006, the Fort Collins Transportation Board passed a motion 8-0
recommending that the City Council adopt the 2006 Airport Master Plan; and
WHEREAS, on May 18, 2006, the Fort Collins Planning and Zoning Board passed a motion
7-0 recommending that the City Council adopt the 2006 Airport Master Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes that the adoption of the 2006 Airport Master Plan is
in the best interests of the City as it will provide a long-term planning tool for determining how the
Airport might be utilized in consideration of anticipated future aviation-related demand.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the 2006 Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport Master Plan on file with the City
Clerk is hereby approved.
