RESOLUTION 84-125
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE OF
UNIMOG U-900 TRACTOR AND A SCHMIDT
VF3-S-L SNOW CUTTER FROM MACDONALD
EQUIPMENT COMPANY
WHEREAS, the City' s experiencing an increasing need to deal with snow
removal more effectively; and
WHEREAS, investigation by staff has resulted in the findings that to
purchase a snow cutter would cost $45,000 to $55,000 and it would sit idle
awaiting a snowstorm, staff has determined a better solution to be purchase
of a unit that could operate a snow cutter as well as other attachments
(trencher, boom flail mower, backhoe) enabling the City to use the machine
year-round by other departments; and
WHEREAS, the only manufacturer' s distributor of said Unimog tractor
and Schmidt snow cutter is Macdonald Equipment Company; and
WHEREAS, Macdonald Equipment Company has offered the City a used U-900
tractor with 200 hours operating time and a used VF3-S-L snow cutter for a
total cost of $45,000 and $10,500 respectively, and staff has contacted
other dealers outside Colorado to no avail ; and
WHEREAS, for the foregoing reasons, the Council has determined that it
is in the best interest of the City to purchase a Unimog U-900 tractor with
Schmidt VF3-S-L snow cutter from Macdonald Equipment Company.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to purchase
a Unimog U-900 tractor and Schmidt VF3-S-L snow cutter for the City' s
immediate snow removal requirements and future City requirements from
Macdonald Equipment Company as sole supplier of said equipment.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this
4th day of September, A.D. 1984.
