OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO PROVIDE LEGAL
SERVICES TO THE CULTURAL DIVERSITY TASK FORCE
WHEREAS, the City, Colorado State University, Poudre School District R-1
and the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce have each appointed members to an ad hoc
Task Force on Cultural Diversity ("Task Force") , which Task Force has formulated
certain objectives described in Exhibit "A," attached hereto and incorporated
herein by this reference; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has appointed Mayor Pro Tem Ann Azari to serve
as the chair of the Task Force; and
WHEREAS, in performing the functions described in Exhibit "A," the Task
Force may occasionally be in need of certain legal services; and
WHEREAS, although the Task Force is not a board or commission of the City,
the City Council believes that the functions to be performed by the Task Force
serve an important public purpose for the citizens of the City, and the Council
wishes to authorize the office of the City Attorney to take the lead in providing
legal services to the Task Force; and
WHEREAS, the City Charter, in Article VI, Section 2, provides that the City
Attorney shall perform all services incident to the position as may be required
by the Council .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that the City Attorney is hereby authorized to assist the Task Force by providing
such legal services upon request of the Task Force as may be necessary to
facilitate the attainment of the objectives described in Exhibit "A" and that
such services shall be rendered in cooperation with legal counsel for the other
public and private entities which have appointed representatives to the Task
Force.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort
Collins held this 15th day of September, A.D. 1992.

CULTURAL DIVERSITY TASK FORCE
The Task Force is Charged to:
• describe characteristics of a desired
multi-cultural community in Fort Collins and
articulate the importance of cultural diversity
as a community value;
• identify obstacles that inhibit Fort Collins
from attaining the characteristics of the
desired multi-cultural community;
• seek information from Fort Collins ethnic
communities about what they believe would make
them feel more safe, secure and welcome
participants in the life of the community;
• develop recommendations for consideration by the
City, Colorado State, Fort Collins Chamber of
Commerce and Poudre R-1 School District to work
toward the desired multi-cultural Fort Collins
community, and;
• identify mechanisms to maintain ongoing
communication about diversity issues among the
City, University, Poudre R-1 School District and
the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce.
