HomeMy WebLinkAbout1991-029-02/19/1991-BASIN DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS LARIMER NUMBER 2 CANAL NEW MERCER CANAL PURCHASE OF PROPERTY UNDERHILL S RESOLUTION 91-29 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF 10.8 ACRES OF PROPERTY ON THE UNDERHILL SITE FOR CANAL IMPORTATION BASIN DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS WHEREAS, storm drainage runoff from parts of the City of Fort Collins is intercepted by the Larimer Number 2 and New Mercer Canals; and WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins has developed a Canal Importation Basin Master Drainageway Plan to collect storm drainage runoff from adjacent land and storm drainage overflows from the Larimer Number 2 Canal and the New Mercer Canal ; and WHEREAS, the basin master plan for the Canal Importation Basin was adopted by Council on October 19, 1982; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins has determined that it is in the best interests of the City that the Canal Importation drainageway be improved and modified by the construction of drainage improvements, in order to better handle the major storm drainage runoff anticipated to occur as a result of urban development; and WHEREAS, an engineering design has been completed which identifies the drainage improvements needed to accommodate the safe passage of said stormwater; and WHEREAS, said design calls for the acquisition of approximately 10.8 acres of land located at the South end of Underhill Drive between the New Mercer and Larimer No. 2 Canals and is more particularly described on Exhibit A attached hereto; and WHEREAS, acquisition of said parcel would protect the health, safety and welfare of residents near the floodplain, and would provide open space and protect a natural area; and WHEREAS, the City has negotiated an acceptable purchase price of $85,624 for said parcel ; and WHEREAS, Canal Importation Basin Capital Projects Budget contains sufficient appropriated funds to purchase said property. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the City Manager is authorized to purchase Ten and eight tenths (10.8) acres of property on the Underhill site for Canal Importation Basin Drainage Improvements for the purchase price of Eighty-five Thousand Six Hundred Twenty- four Dollars ($85,624) , which property is more particularly described on Exhibit A attached hereto.
