HomeMy WebLinkAbout1992-108-07/07/1992-COLORADO DEPT TRANSPORTATION DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT MULTI-MODAL ACCESS PLAN NFRTAQPC RESOLUTION 92-108 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS RECOMMENDING THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MULTI-MODAL PLAN OF ACCESS FOR THE DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WHEREAS, the Denver International Airport (the "Airport") is scheduled to be completed in late 1993 or early 1994; and WHEREAS, the Airport is an essential transportation link for existing businesses and residents of northern Colorado; and WHEREAS, it is important that Fort Collins citizens and businesses have a direct, convenient and safe means of access to the Airport; and WHEREAS, one mode of access cannot exclusively meet all of the access needs of northern Colorado; and WHEREAS, current planning for highway access to the Airport does not adequately address safe and convenient access from Fort Collins and northern Colorado. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS: Section 1. That the City of Fort Collins believes that a multi-modal approach to the provision of access to the Airport will best serve the needs of the citizens of Fort Collins. Section 2. That a multi-modal access approach should consider additional commuter air service, mass transit and light rail , as well as efficient and safe highway access. Section 3. That careful consideration should be given to creating a balance among the various modes of access to the Airport. Section 4. That the North Front Range Transportation and Air Quality Planning Council should provide regional coordination to address Airport access planning for northern Colorado. Section 5. That the Colorado Department of Transportation should play a leadership role in developing such multi -modal access to the Airport. Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort Collins held this 7th day of July, A.D. 1992. Mayor ATTEST: City Clerk
