HomeMy WebLinkAbout1985-084-05/21/1985-AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN ENGINEERING SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH BLACK AND VEATCH E RESOLUTION 85-84 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN ENGINEERING SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH BLACK & VEATCH ENGINEERS FOR THE DESIGN OF VARIOUS FACILITIES AT WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT NO. 2 WHEREAS, on December 31, 1982, the City of Fort Collins entered into a Master Agreement with Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc. ; and WHEREAS, said Master Agreement provided for the treatment of wastewater; and WHEREAS, improvements need to be made at Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 2 ("WWTP#2") to modify the facility and to provide for the oversizing of sludge thickening, digestion and dewatering facilities for the City 's sole use; and WHEREAS, staff recommends that a contract be entered into with Black & Veatch Engineers for the design of these various facilities at WWTP#2 because of Black & Veatch 's prior involvement with all of the City 's wastewater treatment facilities, the quality of this work and the fact that Black & Veatch has performed the conceptual design work for this project to the satisfaction of the City; and WHEREAS, total cost for the services of Black & Veatch is $1,647,935; and WHEREAS, funds are budgeted in 1985; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-59 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins, the City may enter into a sole source contract for professional services; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-66 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins, no professional services agreement in excess of Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000) shall be entered into until approved by the City Council in an open Council meeting. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to enter into a professional services agreement with Black & Veatch Engineers for the design of various facilities at Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 2 for a sum not to exceed One Million Six Hundred Forty-Seven Thousand Nine Hundred Thirty-Five Dollars ($1,647,935).
