OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF THE MEADOW SPRINGS
RANCH FOR FUTURE SLUDGE MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins ("the City") and the Meadow Springs
Grazing Association ("the Association") have entered into an Option
Agreement of Sale and Purchase of Real Property dated July 13, 1990, ("the
Option Agreement") ; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Option Agreement the Association has given
the City an option to purchase that certain real property commonly known as
the Meadow Springs Ranch ("the Property") for a purchase price of
$1,950,000.00; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms of the Option Agreement the City has
until October 13, 1990, in which to exercise its option to purchase the
Property; and
WHEREAS, City funds have previously been appropriated in the 1989
Wastewater Capital Budget for the purpose of expanding sludge management
programs, including the acquisition of land to be used for future sludge
disposal ; and
WHEREAS, City staff has evaluated several potential land sites to
purchase for the purpose of future sludge disposal ; and
WHEREAS, after such evaluations staff has determined that the Property
is the best suited for the City's future sludge disposal needs as compared
to the other available sites that were evaluated; and
WHEREAS, Council finds that the acquisition of the Property for future
sludge disposal is in the best interests of the City of Fort Collins.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the City Manager is hereby authorized to proceed to exercise
the City's option under the Option Agreement to purchase the Property
pursuant to the terms of the Option Agreement.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this
2nd day of October, A.D. 1990.
