HomeMy WebLinkAbout1984-145-10/02/1984-AUTHORIZINNG THE PURCHASE OF REAL ESTATE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A REGIONAL DETENTION FACILITY AT TH RESOLUTION 84- 145 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZINNG THE PURCHASE OF REAL ESTATE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A REGIONAL DETENTION FACILITY AT THE TAFT HILL ROAD/PROSPECT STREET INTERSECTION WHEREAS, the Canal Importation Basin Master Plan has recommended the construction of a regional detention facility at the southwest corner of the Taft Hill Road/Prospect Street intersection; and WHEREAS, in order to construct said regional detention facility it is necessary for the City to acquire an additional 8.83 acres of right-of-way therefor; and WHEREAS, the City has previously acquired an option for the purchase of said 8.83 acres from Wheeler Realty Company, which option gives the City the right to purchase said property for the purchase price of $176,600 and the further right to apply the option money ($10,000) to said purchase price; and WHEREAS, the City Council does hereby determine that it is in the best interest of the City that said right-of-way be acquired for purpose of the establishment of a regional detention facility. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the City Manager be, and he hereby is authorized to purchase approximately 8.83 acres of right-of-way from Wheeler Realty Company for the purpose of establishment of a regional detention facility the purchase price for said property to be in the sum of $176,600 with a balance payable of $166,600 after application of the option consideration pre- viously given by the City.
