RESOLUTION 84- 48
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
APPROVING RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE SUBCOMMITTEE ON OPEN SPACE
WHEREAS, in 1983 the Subcommittee on Open Space was formed in response
to a need for effective action to preserve valuable remaining open space
resources; and
WHEREAS, on November 22, 1983, Council received a report which out-
lined several directions developed by the Subcommittee; and
WHEREAS, the Council encouraged the Subcommittee to continue in the
directions outlined and to prepare a final list of recommendations for
Council review; and
WHEREAS , final recommendations were submitted to Council at the
February 28, 1984 worksession which included funding allocations for the
purchase or development of open space based on available and estimated
lottery funds of Three Hundred Seventy-Three Thousand Eight Hundred and
Forty-Seven Dollars ($373,847) plus interest for 1983, and Two Hundred
Thousand Dollars ($200,000) for 1984.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the final recommendations of the Subcommittee on Open Space
relating to funding allocations for the purchase or development of open
space based on available and estimated lottery funds be, and the same
hereby are, approved as follows:
1 . One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100 ,000) for Foothills Trail
completion;
2. One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000) towards the Spring Creek
Trail System; Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) put annually into an account
totalling Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars ($250,000) at the end of
five (5) years to acquire and develop Spring Creek Trail when availability
status changes;
3. One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000) toward Fort Collins/
Loveland Corridor; and
4. Two Hundred and Sixty Thousand Dollars ($260,000) for property
negotiations and acquisition, for which specific appropriation ordinances
will be prepared by staff at a later date.
Passed and adopted at this regular meeting of the Council of the City
of Fort Collins held this 20th day of March, A.D. 1984.
