AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO
A PURCHASE AGREEMENT FOR EXISTING COMPUTER HARDWARE
WHEREAS, the City currently leases the central computer hardware
located in the Municipal Building from Sperry Univac pursuant to a five
year State, County, and Municipal Government Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the lease agreement terminates in December of 1985, leaving
approximately two years remaining on the term of the lease; and
WHEREAS, the lease payments total approximately One Hundred Thousand
Dollars ($100,000) per year; and
WHEREAS, at the end of the lease period the City would retain no
equity in the hardware pursuant to the Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Information and Communication Systems Department has
investigated the feasibility of purchasing the existing hardware from
Sperry Univac; and
WHEREAS, Sperry Univac has offered to sell to the City the existing
hardware at this time for One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000); and
WHEREAS, the money for purchasing the hardware is available and appro-
priated in the 1984 budget; and
WHEREAS, due to the benefits of purchasing over leasing, it is in the
best interests of the City to purchase the computer hardware at this time.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to enter
into a purchase agreement with Sperry Univac for the existing computer
hardware for the purchase price of One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000) .
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 7th day of Feb r ry, 1984.
