OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT
WITH THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR PLANNING AND
ENGINEERING OF BICYCLE FACILITIES ON HARMONY ROAD
WHEREAS, Harmony Road is a major arterial roadway on the City's Master
Street Plan, which road is intended to be upgraded by the addition of certain
bicycle facilities; and
WHEREAS, the Harmony Road Corridor Plan and the Fort Collins Area
Transportation Policies and Objectives have identified the development of bicycle
facilities along Harmony Road as a valuable linkage for commuter cycling in the
Regional Bikeways Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Colorado Department of Transportation ("CDOT") has identified
funds in the sum of $96,785, utilizing federal surface transportation enhancement
funds, as being available to support the planning and preliminary engineering of
bicycle facilities on Harmony Road between College Avenue and Interstate Highway
25 ("the Project") ; and
WHEREAS, the Council has determined that the Project is in the best
interest of the citizens of the City and that local funds in support of the
Project are available and appropriated in the amount of $24,215.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that the Mayor be, and hereby is, authorized to execute an intergovernmental
agreement with the CDOT for the purpose of making available to the City federal
surface transportation enhancement funds in the sum of Ninety-six Thousand Seven
Hundred Eighty-five Dollars ($96,785) to be used for the completion of the
planning and preTiminary engineering of bicycle facilities on Harmony Road
between College Avenue and Interstate Highway 25, and that the City will support
the Project with local funds in the sum of Twenty-four Thousand Two Hundred
Fifteen Dollars ($24,215) .
