HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-093-08/20/1996-PEDESTRIAN PLAN RESOLUTION 96-93 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS ADOPTING THE FORT COLLINS PEDESTRIAN PLAN WHEREAS, since its inception in February 1996, a City-established "Pedestrian Focus Group" representing a broad and diverse cross-section of the community has worked to develop a Pedestrian Plan for the City; and WHEREAS, the Pedestrian Plan, a component of the City's Comprehensive Plan and Transportation Master Plan, is designed to coordinate with other City plans including, without limitation, the Transportation Demand Management Program,the Civic Center Plan and the Capital Improvement Plan; and WHEREAS, the Fort Collins Street Standards Committee has participated in and assisted with the preparation and design of the Pedestrian Plan relative to the various street-related issues; and WHEREAS, at its July 22, 1996, meeting, the Fort Collins Planning and Zoning Board considered the Pedestrian Plan and recommended that the Council approve and adopt it; and WHEREAS, at its July 24, 1996, meeting, the Fort Collins Transportation Board considered the proposed Pedestrian Plan, and recommended that the Council approve and adopt it; and WHEREAS, staff has prepared and presented to the Council a Pedestrian Plan which, in the judgment of the Council,provides a vision for pedestrian-related planning and programs in the City and provides direction for new developments; and WHEREAS, the Council has determined that it is in the best interests of the citizens of the City that the proposed Fort Collins Pedestrian Plan be adopted as an element of the City's Comprehensive Plan and Transportation Master Plan. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS, that the Fort Collins Pedestrian Plan, attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference, be and hereby is adopted as an element of the City's Comprehensive Plan and Transportation Master Plan.
