OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN
INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH
NORTHERN COLORADO WATER CONSERVANCY DISTRICT
AND ITS MUNICIPAL SUBDISTRICT, THE CITY OF
LOVELAND, THE EAST LARIMER COUNTY WATER
DISTRICT, THE NORTH WELD COUNTY WATER DISTRICT
AND THE FORT COLLINS-LOVELAND WATER DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District and its
Municipal Subdistrict are conducting a preliminary study to develop a plan
for cooperation in providing municipal and industrial water supplies along
the Northern Front Range; and
WHEREAS , the East Larimer County Water District , the Fort
Collins-Loveland Water District and the North Weld County Water District
are anticipating a need to expand their water treatment plant within the
coming years and desire to evaluate alternatives for joint use or expansion
of water treatment facilities in the context of the study being conducted
by the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District; and
WHEREAS, the Cities of Fort Collins and Loveland anticipate the need
to expand their water treatment facilities in the future and desire to
evaluate potential joint/regional treatment plant expansion options in
concert with the other parties to the agreement; and
WHEREAS, such concerted study will result in cost savings to the City
and the other entities; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best
interests of the City Water Utility that the intergovernmental agreement be
executed for the purpose of conducting the cooperative study.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS, COLORADO, that the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to enter
into an intergovernmental agreement with the Northern Colorado Water
Conservancy District and its Municipal Subdistrict, the City of Loveland,
the East Larimer County Water District, the North Weld County Water
District and the Fort Collins-Loveland Water District for the purpose of
evaluating alternatives for joint use or expansion of water treatment
facilities of the various entities, for a cost to the City not to exceed
the sum of Ninety Thousand Dollars ($90,000) , which study shall be
completed by May 1, 1990.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 17th day of October, A.D. 1989.
