OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE
FORT COLLINS-LOVELAND WATER DISTRICT FOR
THE MUTUAL TREATMENT, TRANSMISSION AND
DELIVERY OF DRINKING WATER
WHEREAS, on February 5, 1989, the City of Fort Collins (the "City")
and the Fort Collins-Loveland Water District (the "District") entered into
an intergovernmental agreement for the purpose of promoting cooperation and
providing water service in the most efficient manner to their respective
customers; and
WHEREAS, as a part of said agreement, a steering committee was formed,
consisting of District board members and City Councilmembers; and
WHEREAS, said steering committee, among other things, studied the
potential advantages and disadvantages of regionalization and/or
consolidation of water services; and
WHEREAS, as a part of that study, various methods were analyzed,
including the joint use of treatment plant capacity and water transmission
lines; and
WHEREAS, the District is in need of additional water transmission
capacity to serve certain of its customers; and
WHEREAS, the City has excess transmission capacity available in its
"Westside Transmission Line" which would be a benefit to the District in
the delivery of drinking water to its customers; and
WHEREAS, the City and the District have developed a plan utilizing
existing facilities which addresses the District's needs and also benefits
the City by delivery from the District to the City of treated water from
the Soldier Canyon Water Treatment Plant to the City's Foothills Pump
Station and by delivery of treated water from the City to the District at
two points on the City's Westside Transmission Line, all as set forth in
the agreement between the City and the District for the mutual treatment,
transmission and delivery of drinking water.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to execute the
agreement between the City of Fort Collins and the Fort Collins-Loveland
Water District for the mutual treatment, transmission and delivery of
drinking water.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 17th day of Octobeerr, A�D. 1989.
