OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
ACCEPTING THE CITY ATTORNEY'S PROPOSED
LIST OF OUTSIDE LEGAL COUNSEL
WHEREAS, Article VI, Section 3 of the Charter provides that the City
Council may, upon the request of the City Attorney in special cases, employ
special counsel if deemed necessary and advisable under the circumstances;
and
WHEREAS, the Council has previously directed the City Attorney and the
Purchasing Agent to develop and implement a process for selecting special
legal counsel to the City which would afford all interested qualified firms
an opportunity to apply for the provision of such services to the City; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to that direction, requests for proposals for
outside legal services were developed by the City Attorney and the
Purchasing Agent and disseminated by the City; and
WHEREAS, the proposals received by the City in response thereto have
been evaluated by the City Attorney and affected members of City staff; and
WHEREAS, the City Attorney has submitted to Council a list of selected
firms for approval .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS as follows:
Section 1. That the City Attorney be, and he hereby is, authorized to
utilize the services of the following firms as special legal counsel to the
City on a case-by-case basis as deemed necessary and advisable by the City
Attorney under the circumstances of each case:
General Liability:
Anderson, Sommermeyer, Wick & Dow
Berkowitz, Brady & Backus
Fischer, Brown, Huddleson & Gunn
Hall & Evans
Kutack, Rock & Campbell
Workers' Compensation:
Anderson, Sommermeyer, Wick & Dow
Berkowitz, Brady & Backus
Fischer, Brown, Huddleson & Gunn
Hall & Evans
Bond:
Ballard, Spahr, Andrews & Ingersoll
Becker & Stowe
Lamm, Edstrom, Falacienski , Jordan & Bieber
Sherman & Howard
Water & Environment:
Carlson, Hammond & Paddock
Vranesh & Raisch
Section 2. That nothing herein shall be construed to constitute an
agreement for services between the City and any of the firms hereby
selected.
Section 3. That nothing herein shall be construed to prevent the City
Attorney from selecting and utilizing the services of other special legal
counsel to advise or represent the City if deemed necessary or advisable
because of extraordinary circumstances.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 17th day of October, A. . 1989.
