OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF ELECTRICAL CAPACITORS
AND CURRENT LIMITING FUSES
WHEREAS, the Light and Power Utility has conducted research into
purchasing electrical capacitors and current limiting fuses; and
WHEREAS, such research indicates that no capacitors or fuses
compatible with the City's existing device assemblies in substations are
available other than those manufactured by Westinghouse Electric Supply
Company; and
WHEREAS, funds have been budgeted and appropriated in the Light and
Power Utility budget for 1989 for the acquisition of the abovementioned
equipment; and
WHEREAS, §8-123(a) (4) of the Code of the City of Fort Collins
authorizes the Purchasing Agent to negotiate the purchase of supplies and
services without utilizing a competitive bidding process where such process
does not appear to be practical , based on particular individual usage or
professional advice; and
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Agent has determined that this purchase is
within the purview of this exception to the competitive bidding
requirements of the City Code and Charter, has performed the necessary
search required by the Code and has submitted the requisite justification
to the City Manager for approval ; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has reviewed and approved the justification
for this acquisition; and
WHEREAS, §8-123 requires approval of this purchasing method by the
City Council for items costing more than Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000)
prior to acquisition.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the purchase of seventy-eight (78) Westinghouse capacitors and
forty-two (42) Westinghouse current limiting fuses from Westinghouse
Electric Supply Company at a total cost of Thirty-nine Thousand Eight
Hundred Forty-six Dollars ($39,846) is hereby approved.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this
21st day of November, A.D. 1989.
