HomeMy WebLinkAbout1985-194-10/15/1985-AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF ADDITIONAL FUNDS TO ACCOMPLISH THE DISSEMINATION OF IMFORMATION RELAT • • RESOLUTION 85-194 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF ADDITIONAL FUNDS AS ARE REASONABLE AND PRUDENT TO ACCOMPLISH THE DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION RELATIVE TO REFERRED ORDINANCE NO. 110, 1985, WHICH PROVIDES FOR AN ADDITIONAL 1/4 CENT SALES TAX RELATING TO THE FORT COLLINS-LOVELAND CORRIDOR WHEREAS, on September 17, 1985, the Council of the City of Fort Collins referred Ordinance No. 110, 1985 to a vote of the registered electors of the City of Fort Collins ; and WHEREAS, the Colorado Campaign Reform Act provides that state political subdivisions may make contributions or contributions in kind in campaigns involving issues in which they have official concern, which have previously been defined to include the dissemination of objective and factual information; and WHEREAS, the City Council and city staff are desirous of complying with the letter and the spirit of that law; and WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the City of Fort Collins will be required to disseminate information regarding Ordinance No. 110, 1985; and WHEREAS, the Ordinance is a matter in which the City has official concern; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins wishes to authorize the expenditure of funds as may be necessary to effectuate the dissemination of said information; and WHEREAS, on September 17, 1985, the Council of the City of Fort Collins authorized by Resolution 85-166 the expenditures of Nine Hundred Ninety-Nine Dollars ($999) for dissemination of information ; and WHEREAS, additional funds are required for distribution of information to the public prior to the election. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the Council hereby authorizes the dissemination of information concerning Ordinance No. 110, 1985, which has been placed before the registered voters of the city at a special city election to be conducted on November 5, 1985, and the expenditure of additional funds not to exceed the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500) to provide objective factual information pertaining to the same.
