HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-128-11/29/2005-ADOPTING THE CITYS ECONOMIC VISION AND VALUES RESOLUTION 2005 —128 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS ADOPTING THE CITY'S ECONOMIC VISION AND VALUES WHEREAS, by adoption of Resolution 2005-122 on November 15, 2005 the City Council established the 2005-2007 Policy Agenda outlining the policy initiatives Council wishes to undertake in the two-year Council term; and WHEREAS, one of seven stated missions contained within the Policy Agenda is to improve the economic health of the City; and WHEREAS, in order to achieve the mission of improving economic health the City Council has identified the goal of developing a City economic vision and economic plan; and WHEREAS, two basic elements of an economic plan are that of a vision for the future and identification of the core underlying values that guide the economic plan and vision; and WHEREAS, members of the Economic Vitality and Sustainability Action Group (EVSAG) have met and formulated recommendations that have been forwarded to the Council in regards to the community's economic core values. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS as follows: Section 1. That the City Council's economic vision for Fort Collins is "A healthy economy reflecting the values of our unique community in a changing world." Section 2. That the City Council's economic core values for Fort Collins are as follows: • Our natural environment, historic Old Town and Colorado State University are key to our unique identity and economic vitality. • We value a City organization that is: - Proactive about our economy - Responsive to business concerns • Our educational institutions and the quality education they provide are integral to economic health. • Culture and the arts are integral to our economic health. • Sustainability and economic health are strengthened through community partnerships and collaborations. • We value businesses that contribute to the economic, environmental, social and cultural health of our community. • Supporting innovation and growing businesses from within are important to economic health. • We value our existing businesses and the prospect of welcoming new businesses. • Municipal services contribute to making Fort Collins a great and visionary city and depend on a healthy economy that fuels a reliable revenue stream. • We value the next generation of citizens and their quality of life as well as our own.
