HomeMy WebLinkAbout1985-209-11/05/1985-AMENDING THE BOUNDARY OF THE FORT COLLINS URGAN GROWTH AREA TO INCLUDE APPROXIMATELY 1360 ACRES OF P RESOLUTION 85-209 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AMENDING THE BOUNDARY OF THE FORT COLLINS URBAN GROWTH AREA TO INCLUDE APPROXIMATELY 1,360 ACRES OF PRIVATELY OWNED PROPERTY LOCATED WEST OF OVERLAND TRAIL WHEREAS, on August 3, 1983, the County of Larimer and the City of Fort Collins executed an INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT FOR THE FORT COLLINS URBAN GROWTH AREA for the purpose of establishing a formal mechanism to manage growth in the area surrounding the City of Fort Collins, Colorado; and WHEREAS, EXHIBIT B , Section III , Part E of said Agreement establishes criteria for amending Urban Growth Area boundaries ; and WHEREAS, the staffs of Larimer County and the City of Fort Collins have prepared a report presenting justifications for amending the Urban Growth Area boundary at this location; and WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins Planning and ,Zoning Board conducted a public hearing on July 24, 1985, for the purpose/of reviewing the proposed boundary change and soliciting public comment/ concerning the same, and voted to recommend approval of the boundary change to the City Council ; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of /t`ort Collins conducted a work session for the purpose of reviewing e proposed boundary change on October 8, 1985, and reviewed the area' unique physical characteristics and environmental concerns and now co cludes that the gross residential density of development within the a ea to be added by this resolution should be closely controlled to the e 'tent legally permissible; and WHEREAS, the Council of the ty of Fort Collins conducted a public hearing on November 5, 1985, fo the purposes of reviewing the proposed boundary change and soliciting p blic comment concerning the same; and WHEREAS, having heard th comments of the public and considered the proposed boundary revision o said Agreement, the Council of the City of Fort Collins does hereby f nd that said proposed boundary amendment is in the best interests of th citizens of the City, and, accordingly, ought to be incorporated into sa' Intergovernmental Agreement. NOW, THEREFORE, E IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the oposed boundary revision to the Urban Growth Area as specifically pres nted in the report prepared by the staffs of Larimer County and the ity of Fort Collins dated 1985, be and is hereby approve provided that, to the extent that it is necessary and legally perm' sible, residential density within the geographic area added to the Urb Growth Area by this resolution be limited to 1.5 units per acre; and BE T FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor be, and she hereby is, authorized to a cute an amended Intergovernmental Agreement between the City and Larimer County reflecting said revisions.
