HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-010-02/15/2005-ADOPTING THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD REGARDING BUILDING COMMUNITY CHOICES RESOLUTION 2005-010 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS ADOPTING THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD REGARDING BUILDING COMMUNITY CHOICES DISBURSEMENTS WHEREAS,in April 1997,the voters of the City of Fort Collins approved a one-quarter cent sales and use tax (the "Building Community Choices Capital Improvements Tax") to fund the construction of certain capital improvement projects identified in Ordinance No. 29, 1997; and WHEREAS, among the projects identified in Ordinance No. 29, 1997,was the Community Park Improvements Project,which would add improvements to City-owned communityparks(City Park, Edora, Lee Martinez, and Rolland Moore); and WHEREAS, Section 2(a) of Ordinance No. 29, 1997, requires that the design, cost, and scheduling of projects identified in the said ordinance be determined by the City Council;provided that no decision regarding the design or cost of any of the projects substantially may change the character or eliminates components of the projects; and WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation staff has developed management plans for the City's community parks that include prioritized lists of improvements needed at each park,and propose the following list of improvements to be funded from the Building Community Choices - Community Park Improvements Project: Sidewalk Improvements in compliance with ADA requirements City, Edora, Lee Martinez, and Rolland Moore Parks $ 244,000 Ballfield Lighting Improvements - reduce glare Edora and Rolland Moore Parks 25,000 Total $ 269,000 WHEREAS, the aforementioned projects were presented for discussion to the Parks and Recreation Board on December 8,2004,and the Parks and Recreation Board recommended approval of the projects by the City Council; and WHEREAS,the proposals recommended by the Parks and Recreation Board provide a public benefit to the Fort Collins community by supporting outdoor recreation and programming activities, and promote the utilization of public accommodations within the City; and WHEREAS, existing appropriations totaling $269,000, are available in the Building Community Choices - Community Park Improvements Project; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Council to authorize the use of existing appropriations, totaling $269,000, in the Building Community Choices - Community Park Improvements Project to construct sidewalk improvements at City, Edora, Lee Martinez, and Rolland Moore Parks and make improvements to ballfield lighting at Rolland Moore and Edora Parks. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that funds in the total amount of TWO HUNDRED SIXTY NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS($269,000)in the City's Building Community Choices-Community Park Improvements Project be distributed in accordance with the recommendations of the City's Parks and Recreation Board as follows: Sidewalk Improvements in compliance with ADA requirements City, Edora, Lee Martinez, and Rolland Moore Parks $ 244,000 Ballfield Lighting Improvements - reduce glare Edora and Rolland Moore Parks 25,000 Total $ 269,000 Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort Collins held this 15th day of February, A.D. 2005.
