HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995-006-01/03/1995-CITY MANAGER COMMITTEES MODIFYING PROCESS APPOINTMENT SELECTION RESOLUTION NO. 95-6 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS MODIFYING THE PROCESS FOR APPOINTING THE CITY MANAGER WHEREAS, on December 6, 1994, the City Council approved Resolution 94-205, establishing a process for the selection of a new City Manager; and WHEREAS, the process as described in Resolution 94-205 includes a committee of City staff members who would participate throughout the selection process by: (1) providing information inthe development ofthe position profile, (2)-participating in theinterview-process- with final candidates, including providing feedback to City Council on the strengths and weakness of each candidate, and (3) providing information and community tours to the candidates; and WHEREAS, after further review and discussion regarding the composition of the employee committee, City staff is recommending that two employee committees be established, one consisting generally of the City's Executive Leadership Team and the other consisting of a cross section of eleven (11) other City employees interested in participating in the process; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to modify the process as described in Resolution 94-205 in a manner consistent with staff s recommendations, so as to maximize the opportunity for input from City staff members with regard to the selection of the new City Manager. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS as follows: Section 1. That the process for the selection of a new City Manager, as defined in Resolution 94-205, is hereby modified by the City Council so as to provide for the establishment of two employee committees to participate throughout the selection process in the manner described in Section 4 of Resolution 94-205. Section 2. That two employee committees to be involved in the selection process will be: a. a committee consisting of the City's Executive Lead Team plus the Municipal Judge. b. a committee consisting of a cross section of eleven (11) other City employees, which committee will be selected in a manner in Section 3 below. Section 3. That the employee committee referred to in Section 2.b. above, shall be selected by a panel consisting of the Interim Deputy City Manager, the Director of Human Resources, the Personnel Operations Manager, and the following two Council Members: Ann Azari and Gina Janett Section 4. In all other respects, the provisions of Resolution 94-205 shall remain in full force and effect.
