OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
RELATING TO THE FORT COLLINS-LOVELAND AIRPORT
WHEREAS, the City Council met in a Work Session on August 22, 1989 to
discuss the Operation's Assessment/Management Study of the Fort Collins-
Loveland Airport, which study was performed by the staffs of the Cities of
Fort Collins and Loveland; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to formalize its position on certain
subjects addressed in the study; and
WHEREAS, the City Council appreciates the efforts of the citizen
volunteers who serve on the Airport Authority; and
WHEREAS, the City recognizes the importance of protecting its
investment in this portion of its regional transportation infrastructure;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council reaffirms its intention to remain involved
in the financial and management issues facing the Fort Collins-Loveland
Airport.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS as follows:
Section 1 . The Council directs that City staff, working jointly with
Loveland and the Airport Authority, solicit Requests For Proposal and hire
a consultant to develop a strategic plan for the Airport. Said plan shall
clearly identify the Airport's mission and address and make recommendations
for accomplishing that mission.
Section 2. The Airport Authority will remain in place while the
strategic plan is being prepared.
Section 3. The Council directs that its interest in the airport
property continue to be leased to the Airport Authority for a twelve (12)
month period. The lease should incorporate a thirty (30) day cancellation
clause and sufficient controls to limit any financial liability of the two
cities and to protect the integrity of the jointly held airport properties.
Passed and adopted at at regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 5th day of September, A.D. 1989.
