HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989-169-09/19/2003-AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF LOVELAND AND LAR RESOLUTION 89-169 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF LOVELAND AND LARIMER COUNTY TO LEASE AN OFF-SITE FACILITY FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT PURPOSES WHEREAS, Article II, Section 16 of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins authorizes the City Council to authorize contracts, by ordinance or resolution, for cooperative or joint activities with other governmental bodies to furnish governmental services; and WHEREAS, the Cities of Fort Collins and Loveland, Colorado ("the Cities") , and Larimer County, Colorado ("the County") , desire to cooperate in the leasing of an off-site facility for law enforcement purposes; and WHEREAS, benefits will be obtained by Fort Collins Police Services by alleviating current space deficiencies and increasing investigative capabilities through the sharing of information, human resources and equipment; and WHEREAS, funds have been identified and previously appropriated in the amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000) to cover this expenditure through the remainder of 1989; and WHEREAS, an adequate, available site has been identified located at 117/119 West Oak Street. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to enter into an intergovernmental agreement among the Cities and the County to provide for the leasing of an off-site facility for law enforcement purposes for an initial term of one year, at a cost to the City of Fort Collins not to exceed the allocated amount, and for such renewal terms as the City Manager may deem necessary and appropriate in the public interest, subject to the subsequent budgeting and appropriation of necessary funds for each such period of renewal .
