OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT
WITH THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF A MEDIAN AT THE INTERSECTION OF COLLEGE AVENUE
(US287) AND LAKE STREET FOR SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS
WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Traffic Engineer that the Intersection of
College Avenue and Lake Street is a high accident location; and
WHEREAS, the Council has determined that the construction of a median on College
Avenue would prevent many future accidents and injuries at this location; and
WHEREAS, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has awarded the City
of Fort Collins a Hazard Elimination Grant in the amount of$186,000 to construct said median;
and
WHEREAS, the Council believes it to be in the best interest of the City that the Mayor
execute an intergovernmental agreement with CDOT for the purpose of improving safety at the
intersection of College Avenue and Lake Street by the construction of a median on College
Avenue across the Lake Street intersection.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT COLLINS that the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute an intergovernmental agreement
between the City and CDOT regarding the construction of a median on College Avenue across
the Lake Street intersection, to be funded by CDOT in the amount of ONE HUNDRED
EIGHTY-SIX THOUSAND ($186,000)DOLLARS.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this 16th day of
September, A.D. 2003.
