HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-004-01/06/1998-CHANGING THE NAME AND CERTAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE COUNCIL PUBLIC ACCESS COMMITTEE TO THE UTILITIES AND RESOLUTION 98-4 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS CHANGING THE NAME AND CERTAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE COUNCIL PUBLIC ACCESS COMMITTEE TO THE UTILITIES AND TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE AND APPOINTING COUNCILMEMBER SCOTT MASON AS A MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE, REPLACING MAYOR ANN AZARI WHEREAS, Resolution 91-134 established the Public Access Committee to enhance the amount and quality of information available to citizens and to provide reasonable access to that information; and WHEREAS, the Council desires to have one committee monitoring the development of electricity deregulation and other utility issues; and WHEREAS, new technologies are developing, and will continue to be developed which help to facilitate such access; and WHEREAS,the Council desires to change the name and certain functions of the Public Access Committee in order more accurately reflect the current and future issues surrounding public access; and WHEREAS, Resolution 97-65 appointed Mayor Azari to serve on the Public Access Committee; and WHEREAS,Mayor Azari has requested that the Council select a new Councilmember to serve in her place on the Public Access Committee. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS as follows: Section 1. That the name of the Public Access Committee be, and hereby is, changed to the Utilities and Technology Committee. Section 2. That the Utilities and Technology Committee be, and hereby is, authorized to review electric, water and other related utility strategic plans and issues, and to work with City Staff and other concerned groups to formulate,review,and bring forward for Council's consideration proposed policies relating to issues of information technology. Section 3. That Councilmember Scott Mason be, and hereby is, appointed to serve as a representative on the Utilities and Technology Committee, to serve in place of Mayor Ann Azari. Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this 6th day of January, A.D. 1998. Mayor ATTEST: City Clerk
