OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
ACCEPTING THE FRAMEWORK FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION
AND REAFFIRMING PRIORITY ACTION ITEMS FOR 1992
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the City Council is to enhance the
environmental quality of our community; and
WHEREAS, City Council directed staff to develop a framework for completing
a comprehensive reexamination of existing environmental policies, plans, and
programs to set future policies for meeting this goal ; and
WHEREAS, City staff has completed an extensive community outreach process
to identify issues relevant to environmental management in the City of Fort
Collins; and
WHEREAS, City staff has completed a review of existing environmental
ordinances, policies, plans, and programs; and
WHEREAS, City staff has completed a report entitled, "Framework for
Environmental Action for the City of Fort Collins" which presents a comprehensive
overview of the key elements of the local environment and the environmental
management issues facing the community; and
WHEREAS, the "Framework for Environmental Action for the City of Fort
Collins" identifies an Action Agenda of steps needed to enhance the environmental
quality of our community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
as follows:
Section 1 . That the City Council accepts the findings and recommendations
contained in the report entitled, "Framework for Environmental Action for the
City of Fort Collins" dated January 15, 1992, a copy of which is on file in the
Office of the City Clerk.
Section 2. That the following issues identified in Resolutions 90-160 and
91-99 are reaffirmed as ongoing priorities of the City Council :
1 . Air Quality
2. Natural Areas
3. Poudre River
4. Hazardous Materials Risk Reduction
5. Hazardous Waste Source Reduction
6. Surface Water Quality
7. Energy Conservation
8. Water Demand Management
9. Recycling
10. Environmental Audit of City Operations
Section 3. That an annual report shall be submitted to the Council to
summarize progress in implementing the actions recommended in the "Framework for
Environmental Action for the City of Fort Collins."
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort
Collins held this 21st day of January, A.D. 1992.
