OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO
AN AGREEMENT WITH THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT Of HIGHWAYS
PROVIDING NEW RAILROAD CROSSING PROTECTION AT THE
BURLINGTON NORTHERN RAILROAD CROSSING AT
THE INTERSECTION OF MASON STREET AND OLIVE STREET
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins has received notification of a
Federal Highway Grant to upgrade the crossing protection at the
intersection of Mason and Olive Streets; and
WHEREAS, it is stipulated that the Colorado Department of Highways
will administer this grant; and
WHEREAS, the grant will equip the Mason/Olive crossing with flashing
lights and will connect with a new traffic signal at the intersection; and
WHEREAS, the cost for this project is estimated to be $86,300 with
federal participation anticipated to be $77,670; and
WHEREAS, the local match share of $8,630 will come from the 1986 minor
capital budget or Capital Project Funds for railroad crossings after the
1986 budget is formally adopted; and
WHEREAS, the grant agreement will specifically state that the
expenditure of City funds is contingent upon the final adoption of the 1986
budget and the appropriation of those funds; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of the City of
Fort Collins that an agreement be entered into with the Colorado Department
of Highways for this crossing upgrade project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to enter
into an agreement with the State of Colorado Department of Highways for the
use of Federal Highway Grant monies to upgrade the crossing protection at
the intersection of Mason Street and Olive Street.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this
18th day of June, A.D. 1985.
