OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE THE SOLE SOURCE
JUSTIFICATION OF THE PURCHASE OF MODICON PROGRAMMABLE
CONTROL EQUIPMENT FROM KODAK-COLORADO DIVISION
WHEREAS, Modicon programmable controls are currently in use at Water
Treatment Plant #2 and Wastewater Treatment Plant #1 for remote monitoring
of treatment plant processes and computerized controls to adjust treatment
processes based on the monitoring data; and
WHEREAS, the City has planned to install Modicon systems in other
treatment plants to provide compatibility of equipment and consistency in
service and to eliminate the need to train staff to operate another system;
and
WHEREAS, Kodak-Colorado Division is accepting bids on Modicon
programmable control equipment purchased by Kodak and no longer needed; and
WHEREAS, the equipment is offered at a price of Ninety-Five Thousand
Three Hundred Thirty-Six Dollars ($95,336) which is thirty percent of the
current retail price; and
WHEREAS, funds for the purchase of this equipment were approved in
both the Water and Sewer Capital Improvements Budget for 1985; and
WHEREAS, installation of this equipment will automate the Water
Treatment Plant #2 expansion and the present Waste Water Treatment Plant #2
facility including the modifications proposed for the treatment of brewery
wastes; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-59 of the Code of the City of Fort
Collins a sole source justification item to be purchased at a cost
exceeding $20,000 must be approved• by the City Council .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to approve
the sole source justification of the purchase of Modicon programmable
control equipment from Kodak-Colorado Division for a cost of Ninety-Five
Thousand Three Hundred Thirty-Six Dollars ($95,336).
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this
2nd day of July, A.D. 1985.
