HomeMy WebLinkAbout1985-123-08/06/1985-AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE A CHANGE ORDER TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF PLANT SEAL MIX WORK RESOLUTION 85- 123 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE A CHANGE ORDER TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF PLANT SEAL MIX WORK IN THE LOCAL STREET MAINTENANCE CONTRACT WHEREAS, in 1984 many streets in the City of Fort Collins were repaired by a chip seal resurfacing; and WHEREAS, residents on the chip sealed streets have complained that the resulting street surface is rough and contains loose gravel and dust which pollutes the surrounding areas; and WHEREAS, several different types of treatments have been applied over the chip seal in an attempt to provide a surface that would be more acceptable; and WHEREAS, the only treatments that appear to be acceptable solutions are a plant mix seal or an overlay; and WHEREAS, the plant seal mix is determined to be the best solution because it is less costly than an overlay and it provides a smooth surface comparable to a new street; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to provide a change order in the maximum amount of Ninety Thousand Dollars ($90,000. ) to Sterling Paving as the contractor awarded the 1985 Local Street Maintenance Contract in order to begin covering all the chip sealed streets; and WHEREAS, the Capital Project Management Control System requires all change orders in excess of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.) to be approved by City Council . NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to approve a change order with a maximum amount of Ninety Thousand Dollars ($90,000. ) to Sterling Paving for an increase in the amount of plant mix seal work in the 1985 Local Street Maintenance Contract.
