HomeMy WebLinkAbout1985-128-08/06/1985-AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS RESOLUTION 85-128 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AND LARIMER COUNTY CONCERNING THE FORT COLLINS/LOVELAND CORRIDOR AREA WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins and Larimer County mutually support the concept of the creation of an open space corridor between the cities of Loveland and Fort Collins; and WHEREAS, the City and County agree that the Corridor should be purchased at fair market value from the existing property owners and held in perpetuity as public open space with uses restricted to farming, natural areas, and active and passive recreational activities; and WHEREAS, the City and County agree that this open space corridor and any recreational facilities developed thereon will be beneficial to residents of the City and County; and WHEREAS, the City intends to purchase and develop this property as public open space through a City-wide 1/4 cent sales and use tax on non-grocery items for five years; and WHEREAS, the County desires to contribute to the success of the Corridor and contribute funds from its allocation of State lottery revenues to be applied to land acquisition and development of recreational uses in the Corridor. NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the Mayor be, and she hereby is, authorized to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with Larimer County setting forth a mutual commitment to the purchase of the Corridor and the terms of County participation.
