OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADOPT OPERATIONAL
PROCEDURES AND POLICIES FOR PROGRAMMING ON THE
LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHANNEL ON CABLE TELEVISION
WHEREAS, the Franchise Agreement between the City and The World
Company d/b/a Columbine CableVision requires that the Company provide local
government access on its cable television system,; and
WHEREAS, Cable Channel 27 has been designated as the local government
channel by Columbine CableVision; and
WHEREAS, the City has been cablecasting programs over Cable Channel
27; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to set policies for programming on
Cable Channel 27.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that programming on Cable Channel 27 is to provide public
information on City policies and services and on issues relating to public
health, safety and welfare; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following list of general priorities
shall apply to the City's use of the local government channel :
A. Programming of an emergency nature involving public health or
safety matters;
B. Programming initiated by the City Council ;
C. Programming initiated by the City Manager;
D. Programming from various City departments ;
E. Programming from City Boards, Commissions and other bodies of
a similar nature;
F. Other government-related programming of pertinent non-local
programs from regional , state or federal levels and/or
sources ; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that management and programming of the local
government channel shall be under the authority of the City Manager and
that the City Manager is hereby authorized to adopt programming policies
and operational procedures for Cable Channel 27 and to amend the same from
time to time, as deemed necessary.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 20th day of August, A.D. 1985.
