RESOLUTION 86-53
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
ACCEPTING THE REPORT ON JOINT/REGIONAL WATER FACILITIES,
SUPPORTING CONTINUED PARTICIPATION IN REGIONAL PLANNING
AND DESIGNATING REPRESENTATIVES TO THE REGIONAL WATER
FACILITIES DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, in 1984, the Regional Water Facilities Development Committee
(the "Committee") was formed to investigate the possibility of future
regional water treatment facilities; and
WHEREAS, said Committee includes the cities of Fort Collins, Greeley,
Loveland, and Windsor, and the East Larimer County, Fort Collins-Loveland,
North Weld County, and West Fort Collins Water Districts; and
WHEREAS, the Committee has produced a report entitled "Development of
Joint/Regional Water Supply, Treatment, and Transmission Facilities" which
report indicates that opportunities exist for the development of regional
facilities; and
WHEREAS, governmental support of the work of the Committee is needed
to develop these opportunities; and
WHEREAS, the Water Board of the City of Fort Collins requests that the
City Council support the concept of regional cooperation; and
WHEREAS, the Board also requests formal recognition of the Regional
Water Facilities Development Committee and the endorsement of Mike Smith,
Director of Water Utilities, and Norman Evans, President of the Water
Board, as the City's representatives on the Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS as follows:
Section 1. That the report of the Regional Water Facilities
Development Committee entitled "Development of Joint/Regional Water Supply,
Treatment, and Transmission Facilities" is accepted.
Section 2. That the City of Fort Collins continue to participate in
the activities of the Committee and support the concept of regional water
treatment facilities.
Section 3. That Councilmember Gerry Horak, Mike Smith, Director of
Water Utilities, and Norman Evans, President of the Water Board, are
appointed as the City's representatives on the Committee.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 18th day of March, A.D. 1986.
